Wall hacks and toggling are known to virtually every scoutzknivez player out there. Scoutzknivez a addictive small map that people have come to love. Though its small map with just two weapons, it is amazing how fierce the competition can be in it, and what lengths people will go for the recognition of being the best at it. Often enough when a player beings to dedicate himself to a map like Scoutzknivez and his skills begins to grow he often expands the skill level of the community. Where the skill bar use to stand 3 years ago is now blown out of the water with today’s skills. Nevertheless, some players often come into question when their skills is obtained in a matter of days or weeks.
When it comes to hacking in Scoutknivez there is no known community of united clans and players that come together and punish the player for hacking. There is no known newsletter that dedicated players of the map get to warn them of hackers and why should they. Who would take such responsibility to police this ever expanding community in order to keep “peace” and “order”- no one. When it comes to hackers and catching hackers there is no set protocol to handle it. Often what you will see is a player demoing another player, finding some type of shot that doesn’t seem possible for a person to do without some type of help or handicap, and then like a wildfire spreading his recording is sent to other known players of the map. Often the player who recorded the demo will get other players to band him with to conclude a player is hacker. From here the potential hacker is confronted by the player(s) and after a few “haha w/e” or “i dont hack, you just suck” comments and then frenzy stops. The potential hacker might get banned from a few servers and whatever clan he is will get blacklisted for a bit from the top known clans, but thats about it. Big deal, a few months or weeks later the player is making a clan and back on top, with just few people knowing about his alleged hacking. Heck the player might even enter a 1 v 1 tournament and win it with no questions asked.Famous examples of this is Book from Scoutz Freaks and Que Quey from Scoutz Godz, and regardless if the allegiations are true or not, theses players still have to put up with that shit.
So why this rant? Well the scarlet letter has been placed on a up and coming player named Redrum. On one side you have top name brand scoutzknivez clans calling him a hacker and on the other side you have Redrum trying to prove his innocences. For some of you old timers this might sound like a book or owl scenario, but this kid is going above and beyond to prove his innocence. Recently, Redrum released a youtube video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m6T_rB1ZANc) of himself playing with a video camera recording his monitor and not just a demo. Though it can be said that its obvious he is not going to toggle in front of the video, but when its turned off its another story, Redrum actually plans to film future scrims and post them on youtube.
Yet on the other side of the spectrum you have the big dogs of the community coming at this player, with a poorly shot demo (http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?ga5naojaeaa), with the last frames showing his potential hacks. The demo not only shows Redrum, but other players of the scrim including the recorder’s own teammates. Which ironically enough, from several players opinion seems like the recorder’s teammate was hacking. Yet when this was brought up to the player who recorded the demo, the allegation was quickly laughed off and pointed to the fact that the player lagged a lot.
So in lie issues with demos in general. For many scoutzknivez players demoing is a way to catch a hacker and rarely used to record oneself for fun. The fact is, when you view a demo your mindset is to find something to nail to person to the wall. Maybe this player as been talking shit or has literally raped your well rounded clan in a scrim. It almost seems like a conflict of interest is occurring and when viewing a video, and your just looking and waiting for that moment to say “aha! there it is! I knew he fucking hacked!”
In this case of Redrum it just seemed like this top clan was doing this for their own benefit and not for the benefit of the community, and the fact that he would potentially hide a potential hacker in his own clan and in the same breath cry wolf makes this player lose all creditability. In this instance HOS stays neutral in this never ending battle to find hackers, because we all know that there is a zone we can get in and just pull amazing bullshit shots. Maybe Redrum does hack and its just a matter of time until he hangs himself, for now we will remain on the side line of this game.
